1966 Chevelle SS
Exterior Upgrades
EE - Danube Blue
When was the last time you saw a Danube Blue, 360 horse, 4 speed, '66 Chevelle SS?
You're probably thinking to yourself... not very often right?
As this one sits today, it retains all of its original body panels and has had one repaint about 20 years ago. The original bumpers appear to have been re-chromed at some point but all the other exterior trim piece remain untouched. The glass is all original with minor scratching here and there. The door gaps are quite good as well as is the hood and trunk alignment.
While the paint remains in decent shape for it's age except for the paint touch ups, I have no immediate plans to repaint the car.
I was fortunate enough to come across a set of five (5) 7.75 x 14 NOS Firestone Deluxe Champions red line tires which I have mounted on 14 x 6" JK steel rims with the correct "A3" "6" stampings that have been painted black. I will run standard wheel covers with this wheel and tire combo as seen in the 1966 dealer brochure. Due to the age of the rubber, this set up is for show only even though the tires had never been previously mounted.
For the street, I have picked up a another set of 14 x 6" JK's and painted them Danube Blue along with G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval red lines which are featured at the bottom of the main page.

These standard wheel covers aren't often shown as they are associated with Malibu's
Close up of NOS standard caps
Looking at the 1966 dealer brochure and you will see standard wheel covers shown.
RPO P01 standard wheel covers were one of three optional wheel covers.
Side view
14" JK rims panted were painted black when used with full wheel covers.
The view many saw back in the day.
Spare tire was mounted facing up in '66. Good shot of the NOS Firestone Deluxe Champion spare.
Although a bit discolored, factory sound deadening was sprayed on the rear quarters to keep road noise to a minimum.
