SS Wheel Upgrade

As I created my "To Do" list for my car, the item that topped the list was finding the correct "SS" wheels.

To me the car had a real "COPO" look when I purchased it with the staggered corvette rally wheels... a great look to be sure but I knew I wanted to make the final push to make this '69 SS as correct as possible.

The decision was either to look for correct "JA" coded wheels or to go reproduction. After discussing this topic with a few different people I decided to go with reproductions. The fact that this car was never going to be a point judged made the decision easy.

Lucky for me, a few weeks later I happened upon a mint set of reproductions on a local classified site complete with trim rings, center caps and Good Year Eagle GT II tires with about 80% tread remaining.

Now the hunt was on for a matching spare and this proved to be a little more difficult. When I was discussing the search for a spare SS rim with a friend of mine (and fellow '69 Chevelle SS owner) he mentions he had 3 SS rims in his basement... so of course I was there the next day with cash in hand. The rim is an original GM "AO" code ('70 rim) and was in perfect shape... just need the back side to be painted the correct dove grey. I also lucked out finding a single 215/70/14 Goodyear Eagle GT II tire on Craigslist a few weeks later.
